诗歌背景：
《荣耀归于真神》是芬妮克罗斯比（Fanny J. Crosby, 见二月二日）写于1875年，由杜恩谱曲。1952年葛理翰布道团在英国各地布道，有一位牧师建议将这首诗歌编入布道会歌集中，在伦敦布道会中选唱这首诗后，深受信徒喜爱，以后，在整个月的聚会中，几乎每晚大家要唱这首歌。他们回美国后，发现在旧版的诗集中早已有这首诗，但新编的圣诗集中却删去了这首诗歌，于是他们立即把它编入布道诗选中。一首被人遗忘了的美国福音诗歌，由于英国人的热爱，再次在世界各地流行起来。
本诗稍异于芬妮一贯以见证作诗的风格，全诗以赞美神为主题。曲调系杜恩（William H. Doane,见三月十一日）所谱，活泼明快。副歌中的两个“赞美主”乐音高昂。第二个“赞美主”好像是第一个“赞美主”的回声，充分表达赞美之意。
