诗歌背景：

这首诗歌的作者，乃素有“英国神圣诗人”之称的 Frances Havergal 女士。在世生命虽短暂，只活43岁，却是一个完全献身、虔诚爱主的姊妹。

 

Havergal 女士是一英国圣公会牧师之女，其父乃盲眼圣诗作家。幼年受父熏陶，特别啫好音乐，七岁即能写诗，常在教会杂志上发表。当她十五岁时受坚振礼，灵性大振，满有圣灵所赐喜乐，她说：“我将自己完全奉献给主。从那时起，天地都为之一新，比从前更加光明。”从此以后，开始其生命的服侍，虽然体弱多病，仍讲道、著作、写诗、制谱、牧养不停。

 

本诗作曲者为一英国浸信会牧师、布道家兼音乐家 James Mountain。1876 年首次载于 Hymns of Consecration and Faith 诗集内，以“完全平安”歌名出现。
